And when I tell them they don't, the patronizing and pity begins because I've obviously wasted so much of my time and money on a degree that is completely useless if I'm not going to teach insert eye-roll emoji or GIF here. Concerning careers, almost all departments emphasize the range of good jobs and careers available to English majors. Remember why you chose the major. Beyond that, departments vary. Being well informed means constantly researching, but this also leads to a very well-rounded education!
