The section for Writing Instructors includes links to resources for parents and printable resources for grade students and teachers. Writers may also submit questions electronically for feedback. OWL provides writing resources and instructional materials to support students as well as educators.
Some of the material is adaptable for younger students. Teachers will find more classroom resources under OWL Exercises that provide practice in grammar, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure and style, paraphrasing, and writing numbers. The writing tutors and Harris sent paper copies of their materials to individuals beyond Purdue University who contacted the writing lab requesting information on writing, citation, or research.
For Students The Writing Process addresses writing steps from pre-writing to proofreading. Many OWLs are open to people unaffiliated with the specific institution.
Revision is found under the proofreading heading. General Writing Resources covers the writing process, academic writing, common writing assignments, mechanics, grammar, punctuation, visual rhetoric, and more.
Students will find hands-on exercises and printable resources that support their continuing development as writers.
